The Fundamentals Of
SHAMANIC & INNER JOURNEY WORK
SHAMANIC & INNER JOURNEY WORK
This course is designed to help you gain an in-depth understanding of journey work as both a therapeutic tool and as a spiritual practice. Shamanic and inner journey work can be used as a compliment to existing therapies whilst also functioning independently as powerful healing modalities. During this course you will learn how to journey safely through inner and outer realms, develop the tools necessary for entering into an altered space, generate relationships with spirit allies, establish ritual practices for maintaining energetic safety and discover how to interpret meaning and glean useful insight from visions and experiences obtained in non-ordinary reality.
When we enter into altered space for the purpose of journeying, with the right guidance, we can cross a threshold into a space of unbounded potential. In which direction we decide to travel and for what we seek is up to us to decide and be clear with as individuals. In these spaces we have the option to journey deep within the layers of ourselves. Searching out the root cause of physical, emotional or psychological ailment and coming into contact with aspects of ourselves that may otherwise remain hidden from our conscious understanding. This opportunity to communicate clearly with the depth of our own soul can present us with fruits too illimitable to list accurately here.
The alternate and equally beneficial use of journey work is as a method to travel into non-ordinary realms for the purpose of communicating with spirit allies. Here we can harness the supportive and protective energies accessible to us when these relationships are fortified. This can assist us in our own personal healing journey as a thoroughfare to clear guidance and can make available to us the knowledge and elemental qualities of the natural realms. This building of relationship with particular spirit beings is also a great support for those working in a therapeutic role with others particularly for assistance with energetic safety and intuitive clarity.
This course is primarily taught through process based experiential learning techniques which are supported by supplied reading and listening material. Processes specific to each learning modules are also given, to be completed alone or with a practice partner between each class. The course is comprised of six private two hour sessions which can be taken weekly or fortnightly. The first six sessions equate to a Level 1, during which a broad range of techniques are explored. This gives the participant the opportunity to sense in which direction they would like to deepen their knowledge if Level 2 or 3 courses are to be undertaken. Being taught in a one on one setting allows for the course structure to be modified to suit the needs and interests of each individual participant and is appropriate for people at any level of experience.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
The fundamentals of journeying course is facilitated by Purdie Wood who brings together her knowledge of shamanic journey, soul retrieval, bodywork, sound as medicine, inner journey facilitation and body focused dialogue therapy into a visceral learning experience. Purdie has a strong experiential connection to the Curanderismo (healing arts) of Peru, where she spent extensive periods of time living and training under a number of Curanderos (shamanic healers) in the Western desert and Amazon basin regions. It was during this time that she apprenticed to the natural realms, connecting to a greater wisdom through learning directly from specific plant and tree spirits. Their greater presence and knowledge imparted through traditional practices gave Purdie the profound understanding of inner pathways that informs her therapeutic and teaching work.
Her understanding of other realms has been greatly influenced by her work, personally and professionally with renowned curandero Simon Green. As a mentor he has overseen and guided her development as a practitioner for the past nine years. Purdie’s most recent trainings under the tutelage of gestalt therapist tanya lloydell, Soul retrieval teacher Sandra Ingerman and Visionary craneo sacral therapy instructor Hugh Milne have also had significant influence on her teaching approach.
